Commencement of Hearing

The House of Representatives standing committee on climate change, energy, environment, and water has kicked off its final public hearing on the transition to electric vehicles in Canberra. The committee will hear from key witnesses from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water, and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, who will provide an update on the current state of electric vehicles in Australia. Committee chair, Antonio Zappia MP, has reminded witnesses that the hearing is a formal parliamentary proceeding, and that providing false or misleading evidence may be considered contempt of parliament. The hearing will begin with a brief opening statement, followed by a discussion with committee members.
